Dear Tony Hello and welcome to my first newsletter of 2010. When a client asks me to help them with their newsletter, I always impress the importance of sending it out regularly and on time. It’s ironic then that mine used to go out late or worse still, not at all. Or is it ironic? Ironic is one of those often misused words, so the main article this issue is about how to use it correctly. And actually my newsletter does go out on time now – thanks to Rona Wheeldon of The Organised PA. Not only does Rona proofread my newsletters, she also helps me stick to a timetable! Let’s start with a little sing-song. All together now… “It's like rain on your wedding day And isn't it ironic ... don't you think?” Well, no actually I don’t. Bad luck – yes. Ironic – no. So when should you use the word ironic? Read on… Is there a solution to using solutions? Solutions is one of the most over-used and ridiculed words used in marketing and advertising. But it’s still going strong. I loved this recent blog post from Clare Lynch of DAC Creative on the very subject. I've included the link here so you can enjoy it too. DAC Creative is a small communications agency providing design and writing services to a wide range of clients, from financial services firms to governmental organisations. Clare’s blog is called goodcopybadcopy. Sign up for her posts – they’re always entertaining.
